The 2 tracks on this CD document a concert held at Ftarri, Tokyo, on February 19, 2013, featuring the famed drummer Roger Turner, a leading figure on the British improvised music scene. The opening act, a trio performance (41 minutes 55 seconds) by Tetuzi Akiyama (guitar), Makoto Oshiro (self-made instruments) and suzueri (piano, toy piano, objects, voice), was followed by a quartet performance (15 minutes 38 seconds) made up of these three musicians plus Turner (drums, percussion). Played at relatively low volume, the various murmuring, clattering sounds that emerge and transform with the passage of time fully demonstrate the special appeal of improvisational performance. Superb.
